The ActivCard security solution
The ActivCard security solution is based on a physical ActivCard that can generate codes on the basis of a PIN that you choose yourself.
Identification of the sender
When you launch National Irish eBanking, you log on to the system by entering your user ID and an 8-digit code that is created by your ActivCard by means of your PIN. On the basis of the user ID and by controlling the code, the Bank can identify you and give you access to your accounts.
Approval of transactions
The execution of transactions with ActivCard is based on a 6-digit control code that is shown on the approval screen. You enter the control code on the ActivCard, and this code generates a new code that you then enter on the screen to approve the transactions.
